Located in the historically significant Art Deco building at 1 S. Broad Street, a few steps away from City Hall, the new Insomnia Cookies fit-out spans three floors and includes corporate offices, a training facility, a tasting lab, and an Insomnia Cookies flagship store on the ground floor. The project began with selective demolition to prepare the space — care was taken to preserve the architectural plasterwork on the 20-foot ceilings and columns. A mix of polished concrete, carpet, and luxury vinyl line the floors throughout, and wood-textured millwork clads the walls. Teknion office fronts complement the historic features of the space with a modern aesthetic and LED lights — some of which are decorative and color-changing — allow mood flexibility in the space. The renovation includes new restrooms on each floor, a kitchenette for employees, and a tasting kitchen in the Cookievation Lab. Three new air-handling units and an HVAC control system ensure all the spaces are conditioned properly.
