As the academic and social hub for The Episcopal Academy’s youngest students (grades Pre-K through 5th), the new Lower School is a three-story classroom facility that also houses a variety of spaces that are dedicated to early childhood education and development. In addition to 28 classrooms, the building also contains a library, physical education gymnasium, art and music rooms, and two science laboratories.

Taking advantage of the sloping site of the campus, the Lower School’s upper level entry connects to the Campus Green, while at the same time the building’s lower level allows proximity to the student drop-off area. A protected outdoor space provides play area away from the Campus Green activities.

Over the course of the construction, INTECH addressed many code issues related to accessibility, due to recent changes in codes and their application to elementary schools, directly with administrative authorities in order to keep the work on schedule.

“When people see the finished product they are amazed … INTECH was great at running the construction, but their valuable assistance started long before that, during the planning stage and the Pre-Construction process.”
